The exhibition opened on 10.12. was a wonderful evening. There were Schüler_innen present with their parents and teachers who said the visitors their texts. New ideas and projects were buzzing around the room: great!

It took a few months, but it is done: on 10.12.2009 to the our first exhibition Momentos de mi vida. Moments of my life present.

In the summer we have done with the oldest pupils in our partner Los Patojos the "rebeldes" a photo project. You have photographed their daily lives in Guatemala, but also issues such as violence, equality, the company noted. You have the medium of photography come to know better and even surprised by how much you a photo, can be expressed without words.

Why have you chosen the topic?

I like the theme of equality, because I want people understand that we are all equal and it is not important as we are. Whether we are fat or thin, morena or blond, big or small. We all have die gleiche Rechte.

Welches Bild hat dich am meisten beeindruckt? Das von einem Mann, von dem ein Bein verwundet ist und der nicht richtig laufen kann. Aber er bringt all seine Kräfte auch um leben zu können, ihn interessiert nicht, was die Leute sagen.

In der zweiten Projektphase haben wir Erfurter Schüler_innen die Fotos vorgestellt und sie haben ihre Eindrücke und Gedanken in kleinen Geschichten und Texten niedergeschrieben. Es war für sie ein intensiver und nahe gehender Insight into the lives of their peers in other parts of the world.

The results we are now presented in a series of exhibitions and hope for a lot of feedback, criticism and praise:)

The exhibition opening will be on Thursday, 12/10/2009 held in the office, Magdeburger Allee 137, in Erfurt . The doors to the lounge are open from 20:00. We are happy if you come over!

Ich möchte meinen Horizont erweitern. Ich möchte ein anderes Land kennen lernen und ich möchte helfen. Deswegen gehe ich nach Guatemala, nach Jocotenango in ein Projekt, dessen Leiter der Freund einer guten Kommilitonin aus Erfurt ist. Viel hat sie mir bereits darüber berichtet und nun mache ich mich mit meinen eigenen Augen und Ohren auf die weite Reise in eine andere Kultur.

Vier Wochen lang bin ich täglich außer am Samstag und Sonntag mit den Kindern, den Jugendlichen und den Lehrern des Projektes zusammen. Räumlichen Platz gibt es wenig, nur kleine schmale Zimmer, ausgestattet mit einigen Stühlen, einer Tafel und einer handvoll Büchern. Umso mehr Platz gibt es für Ideen, für Wünsche, Gedanken und gemeinsam geteilte Zeit. Doch auch die bunten Wände, auf denen Landschaftsszenerien, die Flaggen der Erde und eine Weltkarte zu sehen sind, machen die schmalen Räume und den winzig kleinen Innenhof wett.

Die farbenfrohe Gestaltung spiegelt den Enthusiasmus der Lehrer und die Lebenslust, Wissbegier und unglaubliche Lebendigkeit der Heranwachsenden wieder. So bunt die Wände sind, so viel Leben und Energie steckt in Los Patojos. Das begeistert mich.

Da mein Spanisch noch dürftig is, I support Seno Ana in the group of estrellitas, the youngest, who are between three and eight years. Every day, Seno Ana has something prepared for the 26 boys and girls. This is not easy because there is a lack of material here almost permanent: a little glue, some wool, crayons and colored paper. And yet, in the small narrow room, has held a door open just a grid and all the sounds and conversations from the other groups sucks eagerly to Seno Ana creates a handful of pins and a few craft materials, which for me is actually not nearly inconceivable is that all children are meaningfully occupied while grateful for any activity that offered them is.

Personal experience I experience the enthusiasm of the children at the day on which I work for the first time alone with the elders of the group. I have a simple but attractive offer for them: make with coarse needles and wool, small pre-embroidered pictures. Seno Ana Appeals to all children. Daniela and Beberlyn, Julio, Carol, Maynol and Emily, Jonathan, Pepe, Mishel, Fatima and iris. Now, all around me, ask me: Seno, Seno, what is it, how does it work? Lana y papel, wool and paper. Yo, yo, me, me too!

Unbelievable as education student, I know not only the seminars, sondern auch durch vielfältige praktische Tätigkeiten in Schulen und Kindergärten, dass es bei uns oft darum geht, wie Kinder zu einer angeleiteten Tätigkeit motiviert werden können. Das ist hier in Guatemala anscheinend kein Problem. Die Motivation ist da, nur die Möglichkeiten sind es nicht immer. Welch Lerneifer, Freude am Tun! Unsere deutschen Kinder scheinen mir dahingegen vollkommen übersättigt. Aber hier, vier Stunden sticken sowohl Mädchen als auch Jungen an bunten Bildern. Die Freude ist riesig, am Abend tanzt Iris mit ihrem gato rozado, rosa Katze Stickbild über den Innenhof.

Auch andere Erlebnisse und Gedanken werde ich mit nach Deutschland . Take My beloved SLR camera breaks down. I am heartbroken. For the first time we presented the project of women's cooperative and sells hand-made books from Guatemala. Of course, we had this time our slow- already known banana bread here.

Three new projects were started last month, the new Problems set.

Only with constant motivation and inspiration, these projects will be realized. Therefore, a big thank you to support us and to all who help implement the ideas and dreams into reality!

With the money that we won the competition "Be a futurist," we were able to support the establishment of the women's cooperative, which in Los Patojos waste paper recycled and thus produce new books and magazines. It is an ecologically and socially sustainable project, as women and mothers have the chance to make financial independence and learn to organize themselves.

In den kommenden Monaten sind verschiedenste Aktivitäten geplant: Die Fotoausstellung „Momentos de mi vida : Moments of my life, "Höspiel and movie nights, project presentations ... We will keep you informed. We still hope to see your ideas!

The AATG, Maryland / DC Metro Chapter and the Goethe-Institut Washington cordially invite you to Herb Conference 2009 the German teacher for 12th to 13 September at McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland, a.
The workshop is especially for teachers of German in high schools and colleges / universities appropriate and includes:

• an overview of new trends in German film
• discussions on innovative approaches in the classroom
• Practical advice on the use of technology
• materials and suggestions for immediate implementation in the classroom

The films are from the following Themenbereichen gewählt: Film und Geschichte, Musik und Film, Film und die Wende, und Abenteuer Liebe und Leben. Bei pädagogischen Ansätzen und Strategien liegt die Betonung auf Technologie, Spielen und das Curriculum, Stationenlernen, und Kommunikationsformen und Interpretation. Alle TeilnehmerInnen werden selbst die Chance haben, in Gruppen Filme oder Teile von Filmen zu didaktisieren und ihre Projekte vorzustellen. Auch erhalten alle TeilnehmerInnen Handouts mit Materialien für den Unterricht und eine DVD mit relevanten Filmclips.

Ingrid Zeller ist Senior Lecturer an der Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, aktives Mitglied von AATG, und Trainerin for the Goethe-Institut Chicago. After music at the Manhattan School of Music and Germanic studies at Columbia University in New York City had studied, she turned in the context of language teaching, particularly their areas of interest film, architecture, and music. Bear right at the forked roadway on top of he hill (you’ll see the main entrance with name of McDaniel on your right.). Follow Main St. up and then down the hill.
